Traditional Easter Products From Around the World

When we think of Easter products the first things that come to mind are hot cross buns and easter eggs. However throughout the world many different products are enjoyed beyond what we would call ‘traditional’

Argentina – Torta Pascualina

Pascua is Spanish for Easter, torta Pascualine translates to ‘’Eastertime Tart’’.

This Savory pie is filled with hard-boiled eggs, spinach, artichoke, parsley and ricotta. As this dish is meatless it is very common during Lent.

Mexico – Capirotada

Capirotade is a traditional dessert served on Good Friday.

Throughout Mexico there are various different recipes for capirotada but it is usually made from bolillo (which is a bread similar to a baguette) , cinnamon sticks and cloves. The toppings for this dessert can vary but the most common toppings are nuts, dried fruit and sprinkles.

Finland – Mämmi

Mämmi is a dessert made from water, molasses, malted rye, rye flour, topped with an orange zest for seasoning.

When making Mämmi you must start preparation days in advance, as the dish needs to be stored chilled for three to four days before being served.

Slovenia & Croatia – Pinca

Pinca is a popular Easter treat that is used to celebrate the end of Lent in many Eastern European countries.

Before it’s baked, the sign of the cross is carved into the dough at the top of the bread.
