Pizza Party on the Wharf

We were really pleased to be able to help out for the fantastic Pizza Party, hosted by Pizza Pilgrims and Gino’s East last weekend, celebrating the first deep dish pizza in London.

The team at the incredibly cool and popular Pizza Pilgrims got in touch with regards to hiring an oven for the event and we were more than happy to oblige.

Having heard about the team collecting their Ape van and starting a Pizza pilgrimage ( a tour of Italy starting at Reggio di Calabria ) we felt that the use of one of our most stylish range of deck ovens – A Polin Modular electric model , also manufactured in Italy was the obvious choice.

We dispatched our oven up to Docklands a couple of days before the event so that the Pizza Pilgrimage team could see firsthand what the Polin oven was capable of.

Pizza Pilgrims are renowned for cooking incredible pizza and as there are no deep dish pizzerias in London, they decided to bring a slice of Chicago to the city of London and invited American pizza legends, Gino’s East, to take over their West India Quay restaurant.

Deep dish pizza is baked in a cast iron pan with golden crispy edges with toppings loaded on to create a pie-like feast and it’s safe to say that the along with the Crosstown doughnut and pint of Goose Island the pizzas went down a storm across the weekend. It was a real pleasure to be a part of the day.
