New Kitchen and Bakery space chooses equipment to best aid business and product research and develop
The Food works SW based in Western-super-mare, Somerset has opened their doors opening up a world of food development possibilities to the South West region’s new and existing food businesses.
The dynamic food and drink innovation centre that offers food-grade business units and development kitchens, plus hands-on food technical and specialist business support, sector-based training and networking,
We were delighted to be asked to supply equipment for the Bakery development kitchen at the site and called on our technical sales specialist Simon Lawton-Hayes to oversee the project and advise on the most versatile equipment range to aid the ability for the facility to help with all kinds of business’s developing all kinds of products.
The idea is that the venue will help businesses expand their products, work on new concepts and develop them using different machinery. Existing and new businesses can use the space and The Food Works SW can help with support from their technical team on their journey.
Like with our own Test Bakery, we understand the importance of having key pieces of equipment in development/laboratory areas that can be used in versatile ways across different product categories. An oven suitable for Bread, Cake, Pastry etc is crucial to allow users to work with a bake that can achieve the best results for the multiple types of product, therefore the small Polin modular electric deck oven with a compact footprint that doesn’t compromise on authentic bake qualities was key.
A bench top pastry sheeter is another important machine, we have seen many more test facilities opt for a sheeter in recent years as recipes require new processes as production level increases are considered.
In addition we supplied a spiral mixer, chocolate tempering machine, depositor, slicer and hydraulic divider, all chosen to provide users with as much flexibility as possible when trialling equipment, we are strong believers in finding and using the right machine before committing, and our supply of these machines to Food Works SW embodies this in many ways, promoting their own ideas in development and progression.
